During the 2011-2012 school year, Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) USA recruited, trained and deployed 106 young, local professionals as TeachUp! Technology Interns in public schools, libraries, community centers and job centers across northwest Mississippi and in the Mississippi Delta. United States Senator Thad Cochran has announced that Digital Opportunity Trust USA has been awarded a $3,640,000 renewal grant from the Corporation for National and Community service. The grant will be used to deploy 280 TeachUp! AmeriCorps Members to Mississippi and Louisiana schools and communities to help successfully utilize 21st century computer technology in the classroom. The program aims to boost student success and prepare adults for better paying jobs.
